Daltonganj, May 15: The Town police have recovered the stolen auto rickshaw.

Police have arrested two youths, aged 19, while the search is on for the third accused of the theft of the auto rickshaw.

Inspector of police cum officer in-charge of the Town police station Deobrata Poddar said today one auto rickshaw was stolen on the intervening night of May 11/ 12.

An FIR was lodged on May 12. The case has been cracked in the shortest possible time despite the hectic activities for the Lok Sabha polls.

Autorickshaw belonged to Arvind Kr Pandey

The autorickshaw belonged to a common man, Arvind Kr Pandey. Pandey used to eke out his living by the autorickshaw.

It was parked outside his house at Janakpuri Bara Lota in Daltonganj from where it was stolen by three youths, one of the three of his neighbours!

Poddar said it was his neighbour Gunjan Pandey who conceived, planned and later executed the theft with the help of his two other accomplices Jamshed alias Sinu Sheikh and Abhishek Chandravanshi.

None of the three has any criminal antecedence, said the police inspector.

Gunjan has gone into hiding while Jamshed and Abhishek have been caught and remanded in judicial custody today, added Poddar.

Poddar said the arrested two told the police that as they had no money they stole it only to earn fast bucks but it all went wrong.

The trio first took the stolen autorickshaw to Tetrain jungle and then to Sagalim More waiting for any buyer for it when the town police got a whiff of it and pounced on two of the three, Jamshed and Abhishek, and recovered the stolen autorickshaw.

Jamshed is a puncture maker and it was he who drove the stolen auto rickshaw, added Poddar.

The team led by SDPO Mani Bhushan Prasad, Deobrata Poddar Bhupender Kumar Singh Santosh Kumar and 2 other cops identified as Kalamuddin Ansari and Achu Munda did a good job.
