Jamshedpur, May 29: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued an alert of severe heat wave in the Palamu, Garhwa and Chatra districts of Jharkhand today.
A severe heat wave is declared when the maximum temperature reaches six to seven notches above normal.
According to the forecast, heat wave conditions are also likely to prevail at a few places in the western, central and southern parts of the state today.
Heat wave condition is also expected to prevail at isolated places in north-western parts of the state on Thursday and Friday.
Satellite pictures suggested that the trough from northeast Rajasthan to north Chhattisgarh was running from the cyclonic circulation over northwest Uttar Pradesh to north Chhattisgarh across East Madhya Pradesh at 0.9 km above mean sea level.

Monsoon Update
Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of the South Arabian Sea and Maldives area on Tuesday.
The conditions continue to become favourable for monsoon onset over Kerala during the next 3-4 days.
The conditions also continue to become favourable for further advancement of the southwest monsoon into some more parts of the South Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Maldives and Comorin area; some parts of Lakshadweep, Kerala; some more parts Southwest and Central Bay of Bengal, Northeast Bay of Bengal and some parts of Northeastern states during the same period.
