Jamshedpur, May 30: Several parts of Jharkhand especially the Palamu region will continue to be in the grip of severe heat wave conditions for the second consecutive day today.

IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued an alert of severe heat wave conditions at isolated places of Garhwa, Palamu and Chatra districts of the state today.

Heat wave conditions which has disrupted normal life is also likely to prevail at few places in western, central and southern parts of the state.

Today, warm night conditions are also likely to prevail at a few places in the western and central parts of the state today.

Statistics revealed that on Wednesday, Daltonganj recorded a maximum temperature of 47.7 degrees Celsius. The day’s temperature in Daltonganj was seven notches above normal.

Garhwa was the hottest yesterday with day temperature climbing to as high as 48 degrees Celsius.

Bokaro, Chatra and Giridih recorded around 45 degrees Celsius on Wednesday while Jamshedpur and Ranchi recorded 44 and 42 degrees Celsius respectively.

Monsoon Update 

The conditions continue to become favourable for south-west monsoon onset over Kerala during the next 24 hours.

The conditions also continue to become favourable for further advancement of southwest monsoon into some more parts of the South Arabian Sea, the remaining parts of Maldives and Comorin area; some parts of Lakshadweep area, Kerala; some more parts southwest and Central Bay of Bengal, northeast Bay of Bengal and some parts of northeastern states during the same period.°

A trough from a cyclonic circulation over northwest Uttar Pradesh to north Chhattisgarh was today running from northwest Uttar Pradesh to west Bangladesh across north Madhya Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and West Bengal at 0.9 km above the mean sea level.
