THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

New Delhi, May 30: Agnikul Cosmos has launched the Agnibaan (Suborbital Tech Demonstrator) SoRTed-01 mission successfully from their launch pad, according to an announcement made by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on Thursday.

It was launched from Agnikul Cosmos’ own private launch pad in Sriharikota.

ISRO hailed the launch as a major milestone and extended congratulations to Agnikul Cosmos for their accomplishment.

“Congratulations, @AgnikulCosmos, for the successful launch of the Agnibaan SoRTed-01 mission from their launch pad. A major milestone as the first-ever controlled flight of a semi-cryogenic liquid engine realised through additive manufacturing,” ISRO said in a post on X.

This engine test is driven by Agnikul’s proprietary data acquisition systems and flight computers, all of which were entirely designed in-house.

Furthermore, this test demonstrates that the SOrTeD vehicle’s whole avionics chain is capable of controlling the entire propulsion system.

Agnibaan is fully mobile, able to reach over ten launch ports, and has the capacity to carry up to 300 kg into orbits approximately 700 km high. It can also access orbits with low and high inclinations.

Agnibaan is customer-configurable and powered by LOX/Kerosene engines at all phases of operation. The number of engines used in the first stage would depend on the mission, the satellite, and the launch port itself.
