New Delhi, June 3: Around 400 Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) companies, with over 40,000 men, will be stationed in West Bengal until June 19 to handle any post-election violence, according to sources.

A source with knowledge of the situation stated that the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will make up a sizable chunk of the CAPFs and added, “The decision was taken anticipating post-poll violence in West Bengal.”

“The ongoing deployment of 400 CAPF companies in West Bengal aims to establish area dominance, build confidence among citizens, and ensure a peaceful environment while maintaining law and order in the state,” stated officials who requested anonymity.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP), Border Security Force (BSF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and the CRPF are among the 400 CAPF companies, according to the official source.

To ensure the integrity and peaceful conduct of the general parliamentary elections in West Bengal, the Centre deployed over 900 companies (consisting of 90,000 personnel) of CAPF in West Bengal gradually, over separate phases.
