Jharkhand Weather: Heat wave to prevail in north-western and central parts today

Jamshedpur, June 5: Heat wave conditions would prevail at isolated places of north-western and central parts of Jharkhand today, said a forecast issued by IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.

The forecast also indicated thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty wind (max wind speed: 30-40 kmph) at isolated places over north-eastern parts of the state today.

According to a long-range forecast, heat wave conditions over Jharkhand’s isolated places would continue to prevail till June 8.

The Met office prediction also suggested a gradual rise in day temperature in the next 72 hours.

Southwest monsoon advanced into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, Goa, some more parts of Karnataka and Telangana, remaining parts of Rayalaseema, today.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon was today passing through Goa, Gadag, Narayanpet, Narsapur and Islampur.

Conditions are favourable for further advancement of the southwest monsoon into the remaining parts of the central Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Karnataka, some parts of south Maharashtra, some more parts of Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh, some parts of south Chhattisgarh and south Odisha, some more parts of west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal during next 3-4 days.

Synoptic Features

The cyclonic circulation over East Uttar Pradesh persists and was extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.

A trough in lower tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 1.5 km above mean sea level runs roughly along Long. 87°E to the north of Lat. 22°N.
