Ranchi, June 7: Jailed former CM Hemant Soren has said that the result of Lok Sabha elections, which concluded a couple of days back, is revenge for the unfair death of Jharkhand’s 84-year-old Jesuit priest and tribal rights activist Father Stan Swamy in custody. “The BJP is trying to make Jharkhand Manipur,” he has said on his Facebook account.

The post, shared by his wife Kalpana Soren, that there is a possibility of this state being made Manipur. A photo of him and Father Stan Swamy has also been uploaded on Hemant’s Facebook account along with a long post.

The post said that the Lok Sabha elections that were held are revenge for the unjust death of Jharkhand’s 84-year-old Jesuit priest and tribal rights activist Father Stan Swamy in custody. His death is a black spot in India’s democracy and human rights situation, this is the beginning of taking revenge for that, he has added.

Hemant is also being oppressed like Father Stan

The post further said that despite Father Stan’s old age and Parkinson’s disease, Father Stan, who has been advocating and fighting for the rights of tribal communities for decades, was denied bail and proper medical treatment on false terrorism charges levelled by the BJP government.

“He was not given a straw worth 25 paise to drink water. Swamy’s death is the criminalization of human rights work. Due to deteriorating health from prison conditions, Father Stan unfortunately died in custody on July 5, 2021. His death is an example of the BJP’s policy of suppressing the opposition and tribals under the pretext of terrorism and criminalizing human rights work,” the post said.

“Just like Father Stan, who raised his voice for the most vulnerable section, was silenced by institutional neglect and injustice. Today the same kind of oppression is happening on Hemant Soren.” According to Kalpana, today every Jharkhandi needs to stand firmly in support of Hemant Soren, otherwise, they will not stop from turning Jharkhand into Manipur.
