New Delhi, June 14: In a money laundering case concerning an alleged excise scam/ liquor scam, a Delhi court on Friday set June 19 as the date for Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s bail plea hearing.

The case was adjourned by Additional Sessions Judge Mukesh Kumar after the Enforcement Directorate requested more time to file their response.

Kejriwal seeks wife’s video conference participation in medical board proceedings

The judge scheduled Saturday to hear an application filed by Kejriwal, seeking permission for his wife to join the medical board proceedings through video conference to assess his health condition and treatment.

The judge instructed the relevant jail authorities to submit a response in the case.

“Application has been moved by the accused seeking directions to allow his wife to join medical board. Before passing any order I deem it appropriate to call for reply from jail superintendent concerned. The application be kept for tomorrow,” the judge stated.

Judge says will consider accused’s convenience

During the hearing, the Enforcement Directorate requested the court to postpone the matter until June 25.

But the judge made it clear that he would take into account the accused’s convenience when scheduling the next hearing, rather than the probe agency’s preferences.

“The accused is in judicial custody (JC), and not in your (ED’s) custody. If he wants some convenience, you do not have any role in that. You have no role to play. He is in JC. I will consider his convenience, not yours,” the judge stated.

Kejriwal’s interim bail plea was rejected on June 5

Earlier on June 5, a Delhi court rejected Kejriwal’s request for interim bail on medical grounds in the case.

However, the judge instructed the authorities at Tihar jail to attend to Kejriwal’s medical requirements while he is in judicial custody.

The judge had additionally prolonged Kejriwal’s judicial custody until June 19.
