Dhanbad, June 21: The 10th International Yoga Day (IYD) was celebrated in the coal belt on a large scale on Friday morning in which people of all walks of life participated and practiced different Asanas of Yoga.
Dhanbad district administration, Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH), IIT ISM, BIT Sindri, Dhanbad Rail Division, Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research (CIMFR), Hindustan Urvarak Rasayan Limited (HURL) Sindri celebrated it in much fanfare.
Official function at Golf Ground
District administration celebrated the 10th IYD at Golf Ground. Deputy Commissioner Madhvi Mishra, Town Commissioner Ravi Raj Sharma, Sadar MLA Raj Sinha, civil surgeon Dr Chandrabhanu Pratapan, DSP headquarter-2 Sandeep Gupta, District Ayush officer Dr Kumkum and others were present. School students in large number also participated.
10-day NMC Yoga classes conclude in SNMMCH
On the occasion of the 10th IYD, 10-day National Medical Commission (NMC) Yoga classes of 1st year MBBS students and interns also concluded at SNMMCH Dhanbad.
Principal cum superintendent Dr Jyotiranjan Prasad, nodal officer of programme Dr Phani Bhushan, girls hostel superintendent Dr Leena Singh, members of different faculties and MBBS students participated in the programme in large numbers.

IIT ISM felicitates winners of Yoga championship
IIT ISM celebrated IYD on the lower ground. Prof Subhashish Chatterjee, Dean of Faculty, was the chief guest and along with faculty members, students, staff and their family members participated. Renowned Yoga teacher of Ranchi Pragati Kumai conducted the session.
On the occasion, the institute felicitated Open Yoga Championship winners. Kaushik Biswas emerged winner in the boys’ below 8 years category while in the girls’ section Angira Dey, Akshita Singh and Sanvi Kumar bagged 1st, 2nd 3rd prizes respectively.
In the 8 to 14 years category, Shreyansh Kumar, A Rakesh, Mayank Kumar Mahto, A Prakash won 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th prizes respectively.
Shreya Kumari, Toshika Khatri, Payal Kumari, Aranya Sanjeevni got 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th position respectively in the girls’ section.
BIT Sindri celebrates IYD
BIT Sindri celebrated International Yoga Day (IYD) on the campus in fashion in which director Dr Pankaj Rai, Career Development Centre (CDC) chairman Dr Ghanshyam, members of different faculties and students of the institute participated in large numbers and exercised different Asanas of Yoga under the instructor.
HURL Sindri also observed the 10th IYD on its premises in which officials and staff in large numbers participated and performed.
