Dhanbad, June 25: A straight contest is on the cards for each post in the 107-year-old Dhanbad Club election while the nomination paper of Dr Rakeshinder Singh was cancelled in scrutiny on technical grounds.
Dr Rakeshinder Singh had filed nomination for the executive member’s post. Sources said another person had filled up the nomination paper of Dr Singh who made a mistake in the Club joining date which scrutiny members found to be a technical fault.
However, a straight contest is fixed on each post. The election is scheduled for June 30 and 29 candidates are in the fray for the posts of six office bearers and five executive members.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the district is designated president of the Club and elections are being held for one senior vice-president, one vice-president, one secretary, two assistant secretaries and one treasurer.
For the post of senior vice-president Chetan Goenka and Dipak Kanoria are in a straight fight while Dipak Ruiya and Nitish Shabadi are face to face on the post of vice-president.
For the post of secretary, Basant Heliwal and Dr Pranay Kumar Purbey are vying while Anup Kathuria, Barnali Gupta and Jitendra Gupta are in the race for two posts of assistant secretary. Abhishek Gupta and Manoj Khemka are contesting for the post of treasurer.
For the five posts of executive members Amit Kumar Sinha, Ritwik Agrawal, Shambhu Agrawal, Sushan Tandon, Vaibhav Agrawal, Vikash Kumar Agrawal, Barun Godha are in the race.
Dr Abeer Chakraborty, Labh Kamara, and Vivek Gutgutia were members of the scrutiny committee.
