Ranchi, June 26: Chief Minister Champai Soren attended the “State-Level Awareness Against Drugs” held today at Morhabadi Maidan.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister stated in his address that the state government is committed to building a drug-free Jharkhand. Through a special awareness campaign, the state government is informing the public about the harmful effects of drugs. Efforts are being made to keep people away from narcotics through extensive publicity at the village, neighbourhood, panchayat, block, district, and state levels using various means.
The Chief Minister noted that the spread of narcotic substances is increasing significantly at present. Specifically, drug traffickers are targeting young people in areas such as schools and colleges, getting them addicted to narcotic substances.
The Chief Minister mentioned that the state government is continuously taking action against drug traffickers. Based on information received, the police administration has destroyed opium cultivation in several places.

Recoveries of brown sugar, cannabis, and doda, among other narcotics, have also been made. Hundreds of accused have been sent to judicial custody. The district police have exposed inter-state gangs involved in drug trafficking and are taking action to identify and dismantle the supply chain.
Youth are future of state and country, will not let them fall prey to drugs: CM
The Chief Minister said that the youth are the future of the state and the country. Only by keeping the youth free from addiction can a prosperous state be built.
The Chief Minister stated that any family or society can progress on the path of development only by staying drug-free. Drug addiction leads to destruction in human life. It poses a physical danger and harms the body.
The Chief Minister noted that if the youth fall into the trap of drug addiction, it will have a negative impact on their lives as well as on the future of the state and the country. Under no circumstances will the youth of the state be allowed to fall into the trap of drug addiction.
The Chief Minister emphasized that today is a day for everyone to take a pledge and a resolution to not only keep themselves away from addiction but also inspire others to do the same, thereby playing a significant role in building an addiction-free society.
In the state-level awareness program against drugs, various activities such as a human chain, cycle race, and children’s marathon were organized.
