Daltonganj, July 11: The hike in plan of three popular service providers, Jio, Airtel and Vodaphone has seen a kind of reverse of cell phone users towards the BSNL.

More and more cell phone users are making visits to the BSNL office here inquiring about its monthly plan and the quality of the internet.

R K Singh, deputy general manager, BSNL, said, “Before July 4 there used to come 2 or 3 customers to us daily seeking information or connection of BSNL.”

Demand for around 25 SIM cards in Daltonganj every day

On July 4 the three big service providers hiked their monthly plan by 12 to 25 percent and now after July 4 around 25 people come to us and buy SIM cards every day.

“It’s a significant jump,” said Singh. However, on being asked that BSNL takes too much time to activate the new SIM in comparison to private key service providers, the deputy general manager said, “We are ensuring early activation of the SIM card. We know delay in activation causes resentment.”

BSNL landline phones are almost off the scene except in some government offices where BSNL landline phone sets are in operation.

BSNL offers advanced form of landline phone

The deputy general manager said the BSNL has now FTTH which is fibre to the home. This FTTH is a very advanced form of the landline phone where it offers an internet facility.

He agreed that BSNL has still 134 towers which are 2G and these towers are in left-wing extremist-hit locations.

BSNL has only 74 towers which have 4G facilities. The total number of the BSNL towers is 265.

BSNL readies 125 4G towers

BSNL has readied 125 towers exclusively 4G ones where civil infrastructures are complete and only BSNL is to install its equipment.

About half a dozen towers are stuck up in the Palamu tiger reserve for want of forest clearance.

Similarly, in Madgari village, which is in the vicinity of the infamous Burha Pahar there used to be V-set satellite connectivity. Here ‘fabrilisation’ work is on which will improve the cellular connectivity, the deputy general manager pointed out.

The deputy general manager assured that BSNL would provide good services despite its problems.
