Jamshedpur, July 16: Annoyed with noise pollution being caused by marriage and birthday organisers at hotels situated in the foothills of Dalma, local villagers have on Tuesday lodged complaint with the local administration.
A group of villagers from Asanboni village met the Chandil sub-divisional officer and demanded immediate steps against the management of hotels so that the noise pollution could be stopped.
People tend to engage DJs and resort to bursting crackers while organising marriage ceremonies and birthday parties at the hotels on a regular basis much to the discomfort of the local villagers.
As the marriage ceremony organisers tend to play the DJ and bursting crackers till late in the night, sometimes till past midnight, the villagers have sleepless nights despite the area falling under the Eco-Sensitive Zone.

Hotel management ignored villagers’ plea
The aggrieved villagers were learned to have told the Chandil SDO, Subhra Sarkar, that on numerous occasions earlier they had tried to stop the menacing acts by drawing the attention of the hotel management. However, the initiative failed to yield any results, leading them to approach the local SDO for the solution to their problem.
The SDO, Subhra Sarkar, heard the villagers’ plea patiently and assured them of the necessary steps to stop alleged nuisances any further.
Hotels like Wave International, 10th Mile Stone, Hill View Resorts and Golden Leaf Resort are situated within a three-km-long stretch on the NH-33 along Asanboni near Jamshedpur. As these sprawling hotels and resorts are located in a serene atmosphere away from the din and bustle of the city, several people prefer to hold marriage or birthday parties there only.
But the increasing tendency to hold such pompous parties close to Dalma Elephants Sanctuary must be taking a toll on the wild elephants besides the residents of the adjoining Asanboni village.
