Gadchiroli, July 18: 12 Naxal cadres including five women were killed in an encounter between security forces and Naxals in Wandoli village on the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border.

Laxman Atram, a Divisional Committee member overseeing the Tipagad Dalam, has been confirmed among the dead Naxal casualty.

Authorities are continuing efforts to identify other deceased Naxals and are conducting area searches.

According to Neelotpal, the Superintendent of Police of Gadchiroli, the deceased Maoists had been involved in various crimes including encounters, arson, and murder.

He also confirmed that the police have successfully eliminated all armed groups and cadres in Uttar Gadchiroli. Neelotpal emphasized that following the operation, Uttar Gadchiroli is now clear of Naxal influence.

Furthermore, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced a cash reward of Rs. 51 lakhs for the C60 commandos and Gadchiroli Police in recognition of their successful operation.
