Jharkhand Weather: Heavy rain likely at isolated places of southern and central parts today

Jamshedpur, July 23: A few isolated areas in southern and central Jharkhand are expected to experience heavy showers today, said a forecast issued by IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.

The Met Centre also issued a short-term forecast of thundershowers and lightning in Gumla today.

Several places in southern Jharkhand witnessed thundershowers accompanied by lightning last night.

Jamshedpur and its adjoining places woke up to overcast conditions and intermittent rain.

The low-pressure area over north Chhattisgarh and neighbourhood was lying over east Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Chhattisgarh.

The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southeastwards with height.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was passing through Jaisalmer, Ajmer, Guna, centre of low-pressure area over east Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Chhattisgarh, Chandbali and thence southeastwards to east-central Bay of Bengal extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.

Weathermen said monsoon activity would remain normal over Jharkhand in the next 72 hours.

Rain statistics revealed that still all 24 districts figure in the rain deficit list and that Jharkhand’s deficit as of today stood at 51%.
