Chennai, July 27: Master Mathan, BJP leader and former Nilgiris MP, has passed away at the age of 91. The party lauded his dedication to societal progress and the upliftment of marginalized groups.

Mathan, a distinguished leader of the Badaga community, indigenous to the Nilgiris district, passed away on Friday night due to health complications related to old age, his family stated.

His death occurred at his home in Coimbatore on July 26. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and a daughter.

PM Modi, JP Nadda, Annamalai express condolences

Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his condolences, emphasizing Mathan’s commitment to public service and his contribution to bolstering the BJP’s presence in Tamil Nadu.

BJP President J.P. Nadda called Mathan’s passing a major loss for the party. Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai also expressed his condolences, highlighting Mathan’s impact on younger generations and his outstanding contributions.
