Dhanbad, Aug 4: Senior, junior residents, interns and postgraduate (PG) students of medical colleges of Jharkhand will get a stipend at par with their counterparts in Bihar soon.
Health Minister Banna Gupta assured the Junior Doctors Network (JDN) office bearers of this, who met them at his Jamshedpur-based residence in the afternoon today.
Over 150 doctors meet health minister
Over 150 senior, and junior residents, interns and postgraduate (PG) students of medical colleges of RIMS Ranchi, MGMMCH Jamshedpur, SNMMCH Dhanbad, PJMCH Dumka, KBMCH Hazaribaghj and MMCH Palamu in the group met the health minister over their long pending demands.
After the meeting, JDN state secretary Dr Raghvendra (MGMMCH) and vice-president Dr Jaideep (RIMS) said they put up two demands- an increment in stipend and a reduction in three three-year service bonds.
Gupta assures to review service bond
“The health minister discussed the demands with principal secretary health Ajay Kumar Singh and on the spot announced to pay stipend at par with Bihar soon. He also assured us to discuss over service bond reduction proposal in one or two months,” said Dr Raghvendra and Dr Jaydeep.
Besides the reduction in three years of mandatory service, the JDN delegation also requested the health minister to reduce the penalty to Rs 10 lakh from the present structure of Rs 30 lakh.
Beside JDN vice-president Dr Jaideep and secretary Dr Raghvendra, RIMS Ranchi Junior Doctors Association (JDA) president Dr Ankit Kumar, vice-president Dr Abhishek Hansda MGMMMCH Jamshedpur’s Dr Rajendra Mehta, Dr Kamlesh, Dr Ambuj, Senior resident Dr K Mandal, Dr Zehanbaz and Dr Ganesh were leading the delegation.
Doctors hail minister’s announcement
The delegations of all six medical colleges hailed the announcement of the health minister over stipend payment and expressed hope that he would also consider over reduction of the service bond period as well as the penalty amount.
This is the first time senior, junior residents (non-academic), interns and postgraduate (PG) students of all medical colleges met the health minister at his residence over demands.
Stipend for SR
Senior resident’s current stipend is Rs 82000 in 1st year. Now they will get Rs 85,000
In 2nd year ( Rs 82,500) will get Rs 95,000 and in 3rd year ( Rs 85,000) will get Rs 1.5 lakh.
Stipend for JR
As proposed a JR who at present draws Rs 54,500 in the first year will get Rs 82,00
In 2nd year (at present Rs 58,000) will get Rs 90,200.
In 3rd year (current stipend Rs 63,500) will get Rs 99.220
Jr Non-Academic (current stipend Rs 54,500) will get Rs 82,000
Interns (current stipend Rs 17500), will get Rs 30,000.
