New Delhi, August 9: The Supreme Court on Friday rejected a petition which requested to postpone the NEET-PG exam set for August 11. The plea claimed that the allocated cities were too inconvenient for candidates to travel to.
Can’t risk future of two lakh students: SC
A bench including Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud and Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra stated that it cannot risk the futures of two lakh students for the benefit of just five students.
The bench stated that it is impractical to do so. They remarked that requests to delay exams are becoming common, and while they are not academic experts postponing the exam would affect two lakh students and four lakh parents, causing significant distress.

The bench also questioned the motives behind such petitions and reaffirmed that rescheduling would unfairly impact a large number of candidates.
Assigned cities difficult to reach, says plea
Senior advocate Sanjay Hegde, representing the petitioners, argued that rescheduling the NEET-PG exam is essential because of the exam’s split into morning and afternoon sessions.
The plea also pointed out that candidates were assigned cities that are extremely difficult to reach and that the specific centres will be disclosed only on August 8, despite the cities being allocated on July 31.
Originally scheduled for June 23, the exam was postponed by the Union Health Ministry as a precautionary measure due to reported irregularities in other competitive exams.
