Jamshedpur, August 14: A few isolated places in western, south-western and central Jharkhand are expected to witness heavy showers today, according to predictions of IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
Generally cloudy sky would prevail in most places today, said weathermen.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Sri Ganganagar, Narnaul, Churk, Jamshedpur, Digha and thence east-southeastwards to the northeast Bay of Bengal.
The trough from cyclonic circulation over northwest Madhya Pradesh was running from cyclonic circulation over northeast Rajasthan and neighbourhood to Bangladesh across south Uttar Pradesh, south Bihar and Gangetic West Bengal at 0.9 Km above mean sea level.
Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder was observed at a few places over the state; while heavy rainfall was also recorded at isolated places in the past 24 hours.
The highest rainfall of 87.3 mm was recorded at Chandrapura DVC (Bokaro).
The highest maximum temperature of 37.1°C was recorded at Seraikela while the lowest minimum temperature of 21.4°C was recorded at Latehar.
Currently, Jharkhand is facing a rain deficit of 15 per cent. Weather department officials said rainfall activity in the next couple of weeks would further bring down the deficit figure.
