Jamshedpur, August 24: A low pressure coupled with an associated circulation is expected to trigger heavy showers in several parts of Jharkhand during the next two days.

The low-pressure area over northern parts of West Bengal and the neighbourhood was lying over northern parts of West Bengal and adjoining areas of northeast Jharkhand.

An associated cyclonic circulation was extending up to 7.6 Km above mean sea level. It is likely to move nearly westwards towards Jharkhand.

Another cyclonic circulation lies over the north Bay of Bengal at 5.8 Km above mean sea level.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Bikaner, Sikar, Orai, Churk, Dehri, centre of low-pressure area over northern parts of West Bengal and adjoining areas of northeast Jharkhand and thence east-southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal extending up to 0.9 Km above mean sea level.

Light to moderate rainfall was observed at most places over the state in the past 24 hours, while heavy rainfall was also observed at isolated places over the state.

Monsoon was active over the state. The highest rainfall 133.4 mm was recorded at Rajdhnwar (Giridih).

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over southern parts of the state tomorrow.

Tomorrow (Sunday) heavy rainfall is likely to take place at isolated places over Deoghar, Giridih, Jamtara, Dhanbad and Bokaro districts, as per the IMD forecast.
