Ranchi, September 3: Frustrated by the delayed justice for a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College Hospital, the resident doctors of the Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP) in Ranchi have announced a series of protests.
Under the banner of the Resident Doctors Association (RDA), CIP doctors will stage a demonstration by turning off the lights in their hostels, organizing a candlelight march in the city, and forming a human chain tomorrow to demand justice for the murdered trainee doctor.
According to the protest schedule released by RDA President Dr Arya Sunder Kamila, CIP resident doctors will turn off the lights in their hostels tomorrow from 9 pm to 10 pm. Following this, they will hold a peaceful candlelight march and form a human chain in protest of the incident.

“Even after three weeks, justice has yet to be served in this tragedy. Concerns over evidence tampering, vandalism at the hospital, attacks on peaceful protesters by mobs, inadequacies in the investigation by Kolkata police, and administrative corruption at the medical college have compelled CIP Ranchi RDA to launch this peaceful demonstration for justice,” said Dr Arya Sunder Kamila.
A call for solidarity
In addition to Dr Kamila, RDA Vice-President Dr Maupali Khan, General Secretary Dr Jammula Kundan Shivaji, Treasurer Dr Satwik Rao, and Joint Secretary Dr Palak Sharma jointly released the protest program.
The CIP RDA officials emphasized that this agitation is not just for those directly affected but for the entire medical community. They urged all members to participate in the peaceful demonstration by turning off the hostel lights, joining the candlelight march, and forming the human chain.
Support for Bengal medical college doctors
The CIP Ranchi RDA has also sent a letter of solidarity to the students and doctors of Bengal medical colleges, expressing support for their ongoing agitation seeking justice for the murdered trainee doctor.
“We stand with you in these uncertain and challenging times. We hope your efforts will catalyse the swift and just action that is urgently needed,” the RDA stated in the letter.
