Dhanbad, September 9: The Marxists Co-ordination Committee (MCC), led by former MP AK Roy, officially merged with the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) [CPIML] during an Ekta Rally at Dhanbad Golf Ground on Monday afternoon.

Merger to remove BJP: Dipankar Bhattacharya

CPIML General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya announced the merger, addressing both parties’ workers and emphasizing the goal of uniting to challenge the BJP.

“It is the need of the hour to unite to stop the BJP that is dividing the country and robbing mineral resources and corporate sectors. It has captured power in Chhattisgarh and Odisha. We can stop the BJP by united efforts. So, the MCC has merged with CPIML to save the country,” said General Secretary Bhattacharya.

Unification would alter political landscape: Arup

MCC Working President and former MLA Arup Chatterjee defended the merger of his 50-year-old regional party into CPIML. He asserted that the unification would alter the political landscape of the region, with plans for rallies in other districts to strengthen their position.

“We will try to attach other small regional parties with us for a strong alternative before people,” Chatterjee stated.

BJP can’t return to power: Binod Singh

CPIML Bagodar MLA Binod Singh praised the merger, calling it a long-awaited development. He noted that the merger would enhance CPIML’s influence in the North Chhotanagpur Division, asserting, “After the merger, CPIML has become a strong outfit in North Chhotanagpur Division. The BJP can’t return to power if we stop it in North Chhotanagpur region.”

Singh also mentioned that the CPIML’s commitment to coal workers and the labour class would be strengthened post-merger.

MCC Central Committee General Secretary Haldar Mahto supported the merger, stating that the legacy of MCC founder AK Roy would be carried on with renewed strength.
