Jamshedpur, Nov 21: In a major breakthrough, the police have arrested a gang of six criminals who were about to commit robbery somewhere at the posh Circuit House Area in Jamshedpur’s Bistupur late on Monday night.
Significantly, those arrested were in police uniform and were travelling in an SUV having a police nameplate on it.
The robbers were arrested near the Jubilee Park gate during a check by a patrolling party from the Bistupur Thana.

From one of the criminals, the police recovered a loaded pistol that they were supposed to use while committing the crime.
The arrested persons are interdistrict criminals and were identified as Ramesh Mahto, a resident of Bhilaipahadi in MGM Thana area, Prabhas Mukherjee from Sitaramdera, Bablu Lohar from Birsanagar, Amritlal Singh and Manish Singh, both residents of Namkum in Ranchi, and Mahesh Singh Munda, a resident of Tupudana in Ranchi.
According to police, those arrested have confessed during interrogation that they used to commit robberies by using the police uniforms in the state.
Though the police have forwarded them to judicial custody, the investigating police officer is likely to take some of the accused into police remand for further interrogation.
