Dhanbad, September 19: The induction programme for newly admitted students at BIT Sindri commenced on Thursday, following directives from the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). The event aimed to orient freshers about various academic and professional aspects of their courses.
During the programme, BIT Director Dr. Pankaj Rai provided an overview of the B Tech course structure and the National Education Policy (NEP).
Academic In-charge Dr. DK Tati, Dr. Dhaneswar Mahto, and Dr. JN Mahto discussed the institute’s academic policies, admission process, and scholarship criteria.
General Warden and Head of the Physics Department Dr. RK Verma highlighted hostel facilities and encouraged students to maximize their time on campus.

Deans and HoDs of different departments also addressed the newcomers.
Examination In-charge Prof. Shashi Minz detailed the examination process and NEP 2020, while DSW Prof. BN Rai urged students to focus on career development.
Dr. Ghanshyam, Chairman of the CDC and TPO, spoke about the institute’s strong placement record and advised students to prepare for their professional careers.
Additional insights and program coordination
Other senior faculty members, including Dean of Alumni Affairs Dr. Prakash Kumar, Dean of Research and Consultancy Dr. Nirmala Soren, and Dean of Faculty Affairs Dr. Maya Rajnarayan, provided valuable guidance.
Prof. C Thakur (Mathematics), Prof. S.P. Mishra (Chemistry), and Prof. Arvind Kumar (Humanities) also offered encouragement. Dr. Arvind Kumar, Hostel Superintendent, informed students about the first-year hostel facilities.
Program Coordinators Dr. Komal Kumari and Prof. Sanjay Pal, along with the organizing team comprising Prof. Khustar Ansari, Prof. Suman Hessa, Dr. Nirupama, and Dr. Priyanka Kumari, were commended for their successful execution of the event.
Convener Dr. Rahul Kumar expressed satisfaction with the first day’s sessions, noting that they were both informative and instrumental in guiding the students.
