Dhanbad, Sept 20: Truck movement on the interstate National Highway (NH-2) has been completely paralyzed since Thursday evening, as the West Bengal government has banned the entry of heavy vehicles from the Jharkhand side at the Dibudih check post on the Jharkhand—Bengal border.

Negotiation is underway

Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Madhvi Mishra told media persons that Bengal police have stopped vehicles at the checkpoint. A report has been taken from the block development officer. Senior authorities at the state headquarters and the chief minister have been informed about it. Negotiation at the government level is underway.

Bengal police officials posted at Debudih check post also said that entry of trucks has been banned on the directive of senior authorities.

Getting ban information, Nirsa block development officer (BDO) of Dhanbad  Indralal Poddar visited the check-post to clear the road on Thursday evening where he was informed about the Bengal government order.

For the last one week due to heavy rainfall in the region, 58451 acre feet water from the Maithon dam and 220640 acre feet from the Panchet dam of  DVC are  being daily released in Bengal lowlands.

Water inflow in Maithon dam is  53036-acre feet while in Panchet dam is 151447 acre feet daily.

A DVC official said that water is being released from dams on the directive of the Central Water Commission (CWC),  New Delhi.  However, the DVC official said releasing of water has been stopped.
