J&K Assembly polls: 65.48% voter turnout till 5 pm in third phase

New Delhi, Oct 1: In Jammu and Kashmir, the third and final phase of voting witnessed a 65.48 per cent voter turnout by 5 pm on Tuesday, as reported by the Election Commission of India.

According to data provided by the Election Commission of India, Udhampur registered the highest voter turnout at 72.91 per cent, followed by Sambha with 72.41 per cent, Kathua at 70.53 per cent, Jammu at 66.79 per cent, Bandipora at 63.33 per cent, and Baramulla at 55.73 per cent.

Until 3 pm, Jammu and Kashmir saw a voter turnout of 56.1 per cent and till 1 pm, the voter turnout was recorded at 44.08 per cent.

By 11 am, the third phase of polling across all 40 assembly constituencies in seven districts of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a voter turnout of 28.12 per cent.

Till 9 am, the voter turnout in the final phase was recorded to be 11.60 per cent.

In Jammu and Kashmir, voting for the third and final phase of the assembly elections began from 7 am and concluded at 6 pm.

In this phase, polling took place for 40 assembly seats across the Jammu division’s districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, and Udhampur, as well as in the Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara districts of the valley.

A total of 39.18 lakh voters will decide the political fate of 415 candidates. The Election Commission set up 5,030 polling stations for this phase. Special polling stations were arranged for Kashmiri migrant voters. Special provisions were also made for disabled voters.
