New Delhi, Oct 3: Police reported on Thursday that a doctor was shot dead by two unidentified individuals at Neema Hospital in Delhi’s Jaitpur area.

Police stated that Javed Akhtar, a Unani practitioner (BUMS), was killed by the accused, who had visited the hospital on Wednesday seeking treatment for an injury.

According to the police, hospital staff reported that two individuals arrived at Neema Hospital in the Jaitpur area, under the jurisdiction of Kalindi Kunj police station, seeking treatment for an injury. They later requested to meet Dr. Javed Akhtar. After being allowed into his cabin for an appointment, the accused shot him before fleeing the scene.

Targeted killing case, says police

The police also stated that CCTV footage from the hospital shows the two accused leaving the premises.

Soon after the incident, the District Crime Team and FSL Rohini Team were dispatched to the scene.

Police stated that a search is ongoing for the accused, who are currently on the run. CCTV footage is being analyzed to locate them, and all aspects of the case are under investigation.

Providing more details, police indicated that the accused are believed to be minors, and initial findings suggest the case was a targeted killing since the attack appeared unprovoked.
