New Delhi, Oct 16: The Union Cabinet gave its approval on Wednesday for a 3 per cent rise in Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced at a press briefing following the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday that the Dearness Allowance increase would take effect from July 1, 2024.
Vaishnaw stated that the Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners has also been increased by 3 per cent.

Following the latest increase, the DA and DR now stand at 53% for central government employees and pensioners.
This increase will benefit about 49.18 lakh central government employees and 64.89 lakh pensioners.
The total financial effect on the exchequer from both the DA and DR adjustments is estimated to be ₹9,448.35 crore annually.
