Jamshedpur, Oct 18: IIM Ranchi commenced a pivotal training program for the third batch of 80 headmasters from the 325 block-level Adarsha Vidyalayas (Model Schools) in Jharkhand.
This initiative is part of a comprehensive leadership and capacity-building program designed to enhance the skills of educational leaders across the state.
Phased training program for educational leaders
The training will be conducted in three phases over the next three years, with this being the inaugural phase.
Training for the first batch of this phase was conducted in early 2023 while for the second and third batches, it was done in April 2024.
Training for the third batch of the model school will conclude on October 19.

Collaboration between JEPC and IIM Ranchi
The collaboration between the Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) and IIM Ranchi, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on September 27, 2022, underscores a shared commitment to improving educational leadership.
The five-day training program will cover key themes including strategic leadership, student learning and development, digital literacy, community engagement, and group dynamics.
Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, director of IIM Ranchi, expressed his enthusiasm for the program, stating, “Our goal is to make IIM Ranchi a globally oriented yet locally responsive institute. We are dedicated to empowering educational leaders and fostering positive change in the education sector.”
He praised the efforts of the Jharkhand Government and JEPC in enhancing the skill sets of model school headmasters.

Faculty-led sessions and continuous improvement
The training sessions will be led by IIM Ranchi faculty members, including program directors – Prof. Aditya Shankar Mishra, Prof. Tata Sai Vijay, Prof. Sakshi Jha, and Prof. Ankur Jha.
Each day of training focuses on different themes vital for effective school leadership.
The program will also include an impact assessment to evaluate its effectiveness, ensuring continuous improvement in training delivery.
