Daltonganj, Oct 22:  The Latehar administration is making an impressive headway in the SVEEP outreach. It is down to earth. Latehar’s SVEEP programmes look rooted in the culture of the district.

District Election Officer (DEO) cum Deputy Commissioner Utkarsh Gupta, nodal officer of SVEEP Surjit Singh who is the DDC Latehar down to the rank and file are churning out newer ideas and novel approaches to increase the voting percentage which is only possible by inclusive participation of the eligible voters.

Launch of ‘Chala Sabhay Kray Matdaan’ in Nagpuri

On Monday, the DEO and his team launched a 5-minute and 9-second audio and video clip titled Chala Sabhay Kray Matdaan.

The title of the song accompanied by music is very meaningful. It’s Chala. It is inviting in tone urging voters to come.

Then it’s Sabhay. It is participative like voters in the age group of 18 to 19 and onwards, voters in the age group of 85 and plus, third-sex voters and voters with disability.

The date of Matdaan is November 13. It is politely reminded every time so that one doesn’t miss it any more.

It’s purely a local song and musical bonanza in the local dialect Nagpuri, said Anil Minz a SVEEP official in Latehar.

Teamwork in creation

Utkarsh Gupta was very modest when asked by this correspondent as to whose idea or conception of this song and music was.

Gupta said in all his modesty late last night around 9.30 when other DCs stopped taking calls from the scribes after 8 at night in Jharkhand, “In Latehar it’s not the individual who matters. Here it’s teamwork. We work as a team. This song and music clip is the effort of the team wherein our local artists showed their excellence.”

Gupta said, “This song and music is in the social milieu of this place. Its background/ setting is local. Its dialect is Nagpuri. It touches the hearts and minds. It’s very appealing.”

Way back in 2019, the then DC of Palamu Shantanu Agrahari had prepared a little over one minute clip of a rap song exhorting voters to vote and not to while away time on the day of polling playing cards. Agrahari had done the rap song.

District social welfare officer Alka Hembrom said, “You know how quickly Nagpuri draws spontaneous response and rapport. We are tapping the Nagpuri sentiments all for the pious purpose of increasing the vote percentage.”

How is this audio and video clip reaching the masses, Utkarsh Gupta said, “We have rolled down two vote awareness campaign vehicles. It will be playing this to the delight of the commoners.”

Anil Minz said, “We will be making outreaches to the village haat bazaar. It will be a kind of mass connect and contact.”
