Dhanbad, Dec 3: The Dhanbad Railway Division of East Central Railway (ECR) zone has secured the top position among 58 railway divisions across the country in freight loading and revenue generation for the first eight months of the 2024-25 financial year.
Kamal Kishore Sinha, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Dhanbad, confirmed the achievement in a media interaction, stating that from April 2024 to November 2024, the division set a new record in freight loading, rising to the number one spot nationwide.
Freight loading figures and rankings
Dhanbad Railway Division registered a freight loading of 125.95 million tons, surpassing the Bilaspur Railway Division of the South East Central Railway (SECR) zone, which ranked second with 122.06 million tons.
The Khurda Road Railway Division of the East Coast Railway (ECR) zone and Chakradharpur Railway Division of the South Eastern Railway (SER) zone secured third and fourth positions, respectively, with 104.83 million tons and 101.82 million tons of freight loaded.

Revenue earnings from freight loading
Along with achieving the highest freight loading, Dhanbad also recorded the highest revenue among all divisions, earning Rs 16,790.83 crore. Bilaspur Division earned Rs 14,882.32 crore, while Khurda Road and Chakradharpur Divisions earned Rs 9,540.10 crore and Rs 8,946.32 crore, respectively.
On top in November too
Dhanbad Division continued its leadership in November, posting the highest freight loading and revenue generation among all railway divisions. In November, Dhanbad loaded 16.17 million tons of freight, followed by Bilaspur with 15.94 million tons, Khurda Road with 12.69 million tons, and Chakradharpur with 12.11 million tons.
Revenue from freight for Dhanbad Division in November amounted to Rs 2,087.00 crore, while Bilaspur earned Rs 1,938.85 crore, Khurda Road Rs 1,143.20 crore, and Chakradharpur Rs 1,019.70 crore.
The achievement was celebrated in the presence of senior officials, including ADRM (Operations) Vinit Kumar, Senior DCM Amresh Kumar, Senior DMO Anjay Tiwari, and other senior staff members of the division.
