Ranchi, Nov 27: Over 62,000 assistant school teachers will lay siege to the assembly and the chief minister’s residence in support of their 5-point charter of demands.
The decision was taken today at the Jharkhand Assistant Teachers Association Action Committee held at Dada-Dadi Park, Morhabadi. The association’s state president Siddik Sheikh presided over the meeting.
5-point charter of demands
Rolling out the agitational programme of the association, president Siddik Sheikh said that on December 3, all 62,000 members would hand over a memorandum to all ministers and MLAs in their respective blocks for implementation of the 5-point charter of demands.
Meetings at all 24 district headquarters
On December 10, all the assistant teachers would hold meetings at all 24 district headquarters over demand and agitation. On December 16, all the assistant teachers will send a tweet to the chief minister to draw his attention towards demands.
CM residence gherao on Dec 28
On December 19, all 62, 000 assistant teachers will assemble in Ranchi and gherao the assembly. “If the government does not implement demands by then we will begin indefinite gherao of chief minister’s residence on December 28,” said the Association leaders.

Demands of agitating assistant teachers are pay scale, and benefits at par with Assessment qualified teachers i.e. Jharkhand Teachers Eligibility Test (JTET) and Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET).
The other demands included the withdrawal of different cases filed on November 15, 2018 by the then BJP government against teachers and their family members at Ranchi and in other districts in the state;
Amendment in Jharkhand Teachers Service condition and benefit of EPF, compensation along with 4% annual increment in urban area.
Persons present at meeting
Binod Bihari Mahto, Rishikesh Pathak, Sintu Singh, Binod Bihari, Vikash Kumar Choudhry, Suman Kumar Niranjan Dey, Belal Ahmed, Neli Lukash, Shakil Ahmed, Virendra Ray, Bhagwat Tiwari all Action Committee members were present at the meeting.
