Dhanbad, Dec 7: University teachers of the State will raise pending promotion issues with the new government soon.
The teachers’ body of SKMU Dumka, KU Chaibasa, VBU Hazaribagh and BBMKU Dhanbad today said that they have high hopes for this new government especially new higher education minister Sudivya Kumar to get due promotion. So, they would raise the issue for speedy clearance, he added.
The promotion to 2008 batch lecturers of the state has not been given in 16 years so far.

Interestingly, barring Kolhan University (KU) Chaibasa, Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) Dhanbad, Sido Kanho Murmu University (SKMU) Dumka and Vinoba Bhave University (VBU) Hazaribagh have already submitted promotion related papers to the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC).
Since the JPCS chairman’s post is vacant, teachers’ bodies do not see promotion would be cleared soon.
Plea to form committee on Bihar basis
SKMU Dumka Teachers Association general secretary Dr Santosh Sil said that the JPSC can’t clear the promotion list of all universities. In Bihar, the government formed a committee at the university level and promotion was given duly.

“ We suggest the Jharkhand government should also form a committee at the university level for giving promotion. If it is left for the JPSC, not to speak of V-C, we will not get even a regular registrar and principal” said Dr Sil.
VBU Hazaribagh TA general secretary Dr Binod Ranjan said that his university has also submitted papers to the JPSC for professor post promotion besides 2008 batch teachers. “Now the new government is in place we would raise the issue of clearing the file,” he said.
BBMKU Dhanbad was the first university in the state to submit the papers to the JPSC for promotion of the 2008 batch two years ago. But the JPSC has been sitting on them without any rhyme or reason, he added.
“We have high hopes from the new government that it will clear all pending promotion in the interest of higher education,” said Dr Amulya Suman Beck, GS BBMKUTA.
KU Chaibasa yet to submit papers
KU Chaibasa is the lone university of Jharkhand that has not submitted the paper to the JPSC for promotion of 2008 batch teachers so far.
The university sources said that anarchy has prevailed in the university as the divisional commissioner (in charge of the vice-chancellor) does not give time to clear the file. Last month in his presence teachers’ representatives were assaulted at the meeting but he did not take action, he added.
“We sat on a dharna at the university in September to press for preparing promotion papers and even met the Governor in Ranchi. However, we would again move at all levels to clear pending promotion,” said Dr Sanjay Kumar Singh, president of KUTA.
