IIT ISM Dhanbad launches capacity building program on hydraulics in mining machines

Dhanbad, Dec 10: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad has inaugurated a week-long capacity-building program focused on hydraulics in mining machines.

The program is organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT ISM and is designed to enhance the skills of professionals in the mining and construction machinery sectors.

Program objectives

The program, which began today, will be attended by 35 executives from 12 leading organizations across the country.

The primary objective is to improve the operational, maintenance, and troubleshooting skills of professionals working with hydraulic systems in mining machinery.

The program aims to strengthen industry-academia collaboration, bridging the knowledge gap and advancing technology in the mining and construction machinery sectors.

The one-week program is designed to enhance the operational, maintenance, and troubleshooting skills of professionals working with hydraulic systems in mining machinery. By bringing together experts, industry leaders, and professionals, the program aims to provide valuable insights and hands-on experience to strengthen the participants’ technical expertise.

Program highlights and keynote addresses

The inaugural function was graced by Chief Guest Prof. Prem Vrat, Chairman of the Board of Governors at IIT ISM, who emphasized the critical importance of the program in enhancing hydraulic system efficiency and machine productivity.

Director Prof. Sukumar Mishra, Prof. Somnath Chattopadhyay, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Prof. Ajit Kumar, Programme Coordinator and Assistant Professor in the department, were also present.

Prof. Mishra highlighted the program’s role in fostering professional growth and improving operational effectiveness in the industry.

Prof. Kumar underscored the program’s unique blend of theoretical knowledge and practical applications, aimed at strengthening collaboration between industry and academia.

He stated that IIT ISM Dhanbad aims to bridge the knowledge gap and drive technological advancements in the mining and construction machinery sectors.

Participants include executives from prominent companies such as Executives from leading organizations, including Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) India Limited, Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL), Tata Steel Limited, Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), Infra Equip Private Limited, L&T Precision Engineering Systems Limited, Volvo Construction Equipment (VCE) India Pvt. Limited, Pollutech Engineering, Ramanand Power Systems Pvt. Limited, and Suchita Millennium Projects Pvt. Limited.

Alignment with national initiatives

This initiative is part of IIT ISM Dhanbad’s centenary celebrations and aligns with the Government of India’s Make in India campaign, which promotes industry-academia partnerships.
