Daltonganj, Dec 10: Two modular kitchens have been made operational at the Palamu Tiger Reserve (PTR). One is located at the Maromar Forest Rest House, and the other at the Rud Forest Rest House.
Kumar Ashish, Deputy Director of PTR’s South Division, shared this update today. He stated that the kitchens are eco-friendly, highly hygienic, and smokeless.
“The use of firewood is strictly prohibited here. Food will be prepared on gas stoves,” Ashish said. He added, “These modular kitchens ensure timely food preparation, addressing a common concern of visitors.”

Tourists had frequently complained about delays in serving tea and meals, but Ashish believes this will now be a rare issue. “The modular kitchens guarantee prompt catering,” he emphasised.
Each kitchen has a dining capacity for up to 12 people at a time. Recognising that children make up a significant portion of local tourists, the kitchens will prepare dishes tailored to their preferences.
Except for Betla, where a few quality hotels are available, most other tourist locations within the PTR rely on forest rest houses for accommodation and meals.
Previously, roadside tea stalls and eateries catered to tourists. Ashish noted that the modular kitchens will also serve food to people other than tourists, improving food accessibility in the area.
