Jammu, Nov 29: Atal Dulloo, a senior IAS officer, has been appointed the new chief secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, taking over from Arun Kumar Mehta, who is set to retire at the end of this month.

To assume charge on Dec 1

Dulloo, an IAS officer of the 1989 batch of the Union Territories or Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory Cadre, will take over as chief secretary of Jammu and Kashmir on December 1st, as per a directive issued from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

“Consequent upon the superannuation of Arun Kumar Mehta, IAS on 30.11.2023 and on repatriation from central deputation, Atal Dulloo, IAS is hereby appointed as chief secretary, Jammu and Kashmir with effect from 01.12.2023 or from date of assumption of charge, whichever is later and until further orders. This issues with the approval of competent authority,” MHA stated in an order on Wednesday.

MHA requested Cabinet for repatriation

After serving as the secretary of the Department of Border Management under the Home Ministry, Dulloo was repatriated to his Union Territories cadre by the Central government on November 20.

At the Ministry of Home Affairs’ request, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has authorized Dulloo’s repatriation to his parent cadre.
