Ranchi, Jan 6: Chief Minister Hemant Soren reaffirmed his commitment to Jharkhand’s development by transferring ₹1415 crore 44 lakh 77 thousand via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the bank accounts of 56,61,791 women beneficiaries under the Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Maiyaan Samman Yojana. The announcement was made during a state-level function held at the Army Ground, Namkum.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister highlighted his government’s commitment to empowering women. “We promised to increase the honorarium under the Mukhyamantri Maiyaan Samman Yojana from ₹1000 per month to ₹2500 starting December, and today, we have fulfilled this promise. ₹2500 has been transferred to your accounts as the first instalment of the revised amount. I hope this will help you contribute even more significantly to the state’s progress,” he said.

A Model for the Nation

The Chief Minister proudly noted that the concept behind the Maiyaan Samman Yojana is being recognized across the country as an innovative step toward empowering women. “Other states are now looking to adopt this scheme, which is a role model for women’s welfare. I am confident it will be a turning point in advancing the status of women. The respect and blessings you have given us have strengthened our resolve to continue working for your progress,” he added.

Women’s Empowerment at the Core

Chief Minister Soren emphasized his government’s commitment to making women self-reliant by granting them dignity, rights, and financial independence. “We implemented this scheme to fulfil your dreams of progress. Through your empowerment, you will strengthen your families and contribute to the development of the state and the country,” he said.

Progress Requires Equality

The Chief Minister stressed that the state and the country cannot progress until men and women work together as equals. “Despite several policies and programs, women in this country remain deprived of development opportunities. This is why we resolved to take deliberate steps to empower women. The Maiyaan Samman Yojana is a significant step in that direction,” he said.

From Meeting Needs to Building Futures

He explained that the financial support under this scheme is not just for fulfilling daily needs but also for creating opportunities for women. “With this money, you can support your children’s education and increase your income. This is not merely a welfare scheme—it is a tool to make you self-reliant,” he stated.

Women as Pillars of Economic Growth

The Chief Minister highlighted women’s unique role in managing households and their understanding of financial priorities. “Women are the backbone of families, and now we are entrusting them with the responsibility of driving the state’s economic progress. By empowering half the population, we aim to transform Jharkhand into a developed state,” he said.

Government Support for Economic Activities

He assured women beneficiaries that the government would continue to support their economic endeavours. “Our government will visit villages regularly to understand the activities you are pursuing to achieve economic prosperity. We will extend full support to your efforts,” he promised.

Overcoming Challenges of Deprivation

The Chief Minister lamented that while other states benefit from Jharkhand’s resources, its people have been forced to live in deprivation for years. He acknowledged the state’s enduring challenges, including poverty, unemployment, malnutrition, backwardness, and migration, as hurdles to development.

Banks Must Change Their Approach

The Chief Minister also called out banks for their inadequate support to the people of Jharkhand. “The money deposited by the poor here is being utilized elsewhere, and the people are not receiving the assistance they need. Banks must change their attitude and work in alignment with the needs of this state,” he said.

Dignitaries Present

The event was attended by Ministers Radha Krishna Kishore, Chamra Linda, Sanjay Prasad Yadav, Irfan Ansari, Hafizul Hasan, Deepika Pandey Singh, Yogendra Prasad, Sudivya Kumar, Shilpi Neha Tirkey, along with MLA Kalpana Soren, MP Joba Manjhi, Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji, other MLAs, senior state government officials, and a large number of women beneficiaries of the Maiyaan Samman Yojana from across Jharkhand.
