Jharkhand News: 7 inter-state cyber criminals arrested in Dhanbad

Dhanbad, Jan 7: In a significant operation, Dhanbad police arrested seven inter-state cyber criminals operating from rented houses in two locations within the district.

According to Cyber Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanjiv Kumar, four individuals were apprehended in Tapovan Colony under the Saraidhela police station area, while three were caught in Pithakiyari village under the Nirsa police station area. The arrests were made using location tracking via the Pratibimb app.

The cyber criminals arrested in Tapovan Colony include Krishnadev Kumar (Dhanbad), Deepnarayan Yadav (Banka, Bihar), Nitish Kumar (Banka, Bihar), and Pankaj Kumar Yadav (Jamui, Bihar).

They were living in a rented house and were found with 24 mobile phones, 21 SIM cards, an iPad, a laptop, three Jio Fiber devices, an Airtel Fiber connection, and various documents related to cybercrimes.

Modus Operandi: Fake IDs and Online Scams

Police revealed that the arrested individuals created fake identities of senior government officials to defraud people. They were running scams in the name of selling furniture and used goods online. The operation highlights the increasing sophistication of cybercriminals and the need for vigilance among the public.

Second Raid in Nirsa Uncovers More Cyber Fraud

In a separate raid in Pithakiyari village under the Nirsa police station, three cyber criminals were apprehended.

The operation, led by Nirsa SDPO Rajat Manik Bakhla under the directive of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) HP Janardhan, resulted in the arrest of Mukesh Ravida (Govindpur, Dhanbad), Laxman Ravidas (Kulti, West Bengal), and Sukhdeo Ravidas (Nirsa, Dhanbad).

These individuals were operating from a rented house owned by Chhotku Ravi Das. Police recovered 10 mobile phones, 16 SIM cards, and other incriminating items during the raid. The arrests mark a significant step in combating cybercrime in the region.
