BIT Sindri mining student wins Green Marathon

Dhanbad, Jan 13: Ashish Kujur, a student from the Mining Engineering Department at BIT Sindri, won the prestigious Green Marathon title organized by the Eco Club of BIT Sindri in collaboration with Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and Kalyaneswari Tasra Mining Private Limited (KTMPL).

Satyam, from the Mechanical Engineering Department, secured the second position, while Shiva Hembram from the Metal Engineering Department claimed third place.

Top Performers Felicitated with Certificates and Trophies

The Eco Club felicitated the top 10 sprinters with certificates and trophies. The other notable position holders were Rohit Hansda (4th), Krishan Kisku of Electrical Engineering (5th), Prasant Kumar Bawri (6th), Praveen Kisku of Civil Engineering (7th), Rahul Kumar (8th), Nischal Bawri (9th), and Samir Majhi of Chemical Engineering (10th).

Girls’ Category Winners

In the girls’ category, Nirupa Lakra of Chemical Engineering, Chayna Rana of Chemical Engineering, and Mayna Rana of Production Engineering secured the first, second, and third positions, respectively.

A 2.5-kilometer marathon was organized to celebrate National Youth Day, with the theme “Run for Environment, Run for Youth.” Over 300 students and faculty members participated in the event.

Director Dr. Pankaj Rai Emphasizes Youth’s Role in Sustainability

BIT Sindri Director Dr. Pankaj Rai, the chief guest at the event, flagged off the race and highlighted the significant role youth play in fostering a sustainable future.

He praised the initiative taken by the Eco Club and stressed the importance of such events in raising environmental awareness and encouraging the younger generation’s active participation.

Eco Club Celebrates Youth’s Commitment to a Greener Future

Professor-in-Charge of the Eco Club, Dr. B.D. Yadav, emphasized that the marathon was not just about running but about taking a step toward a greener, healthier planet. He stated, “Our youth hold the key to a sustainable future, and their active participation here is a testament to their dedication.”

General Warden R.K. Verma expressed appreciation for the overwhelming response to the initiative, stating that such events reflect BIT Sindri’s commitment to promoting a culture of environmental awareness and responsibility.

Delegates from SAIL and KTMPL also praised the efforts of the Eco Club and highlighted the significance of collaborative actions in addressing environmental challenges.
