Dhanbad, Jan 16: The Coal Mines Officers Association (CMOA) has strongly protested the FIR filed against Ganesh Chandra Shah, the General Manager (GM) of BCCL’s Govindpur Colliery Area, in connection with the violent incident at Kharkhari Colliery. The association has threatened to launch a major agitation if the FIR is not withdrawn.
CMOA’s Response to Allegations
During a meeting held in the Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) zone, CMOA condemned the incident and decided to demonstrate under protest by wearing black badges.
CMOA President SK Singh dismissed the allegations by district administration officers, stating that they were far from accurate. He clarified that the management of Govindpur Area had no involvement with the Hill Top Outsourcing Company site where the violence occurred.
The association plans to meet with the Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police to demand the withdrawal of the FIR against the GM.

Kharkhari Colliery Violence Details
The violence at Kharkhari Colliery, which occurred on January 9, involved a clash between two groups at the Hill Top Outsourcing Company site under Madhuban Police Station area.
The altercation escalated when Baghmara SDPO Purushottam Singh was injured while trying to control the situation.
The conflict reportedly stemmed from a dispute over the construction of a boundary wall for the outsourcing company.
According to district administration officials, the Circle Officer and SDPO had specifically prohibited the Govindpur Colliery Area GM from allowing any construction in the outsourcing company’s area. However, the GM permitted the work, which is said to have triggered the violence between the groups.

CMOA’s Support
The meeting was attended by CMOA Vice-President AK Jha, General Secretary Nirjhar Chakraborty, Joint Secretary Satish Mishra, along with senior members Gyaneswar Prasad, Jayant Kumar Jaiswal, K.S. Dwivedi, Amit Kumar, Sanjiv Jha, and Shambhu Rajak. All of them strongly condemned the filing of the FIR.
A delegation from CMOA also met with BCCL Chairman and Managing Director Samiran Dutta to voice their concerns over the issue.
