Ranchi, Jan 17: The Ranchi CBI court has taken cognizance of the CBI’s chargesheet in the second JPSC (Jharkhand Public Service Commission) appointment scam.

In November last year, the CBI filed the chargesheet in the special court in Ranchi after nearly 12 years of investigation. Following this, the court ordered the issuance of summons to 72 accused individuals on Thursday. The chargesheet names 72 people, including the then JPSC Chairman, Dilip Prasad, as accused.

Promotions for Officers Named in the Chargesheet

The charge sheet also includes the names of officers who have been promoted from DSP to SP. According to the CBI, the marks of 12 candidates were increased on the instructions of the then-JPSC member and coordinator. This was done by altering answer sheets—cutting and pasting portions—and inflating the marks obtained by certain candidates in interviews.

Key Accused in the Chargesheet

The chargesheet names several individuals, including former JPSC Chairman Dilip Kumar Prasad, members Gopal Prasad Singh, Shanti Devi, Radha Govind Nagesh, Alice Usha Rani Singh, Arvind Kumar, Sohan Ram, Prashant Kumar Layak, Radha Prem Kishore, Vinod Ram, Hari Shankar Baraik, Hari Shangar Singh Munda, Ravi Kumar Kujur, Mukesh Kumar Mahato, S.A. Khanna, Bateshwar Pandit, coordinator Parmanand Singh, Albert Toppo, S. Ahmed, Nandlal, Kundan Kumar Singh, Mousami Nagesh, Kanuram Nag, Lal Mohan Nath Shahdev, Prakash Kumar, Kumari Geetanjali, Sangeeta Kumari, Rajnish Kumar, Shivendra, Santosh Kumar Chaudhary, Kumar Shailendra, and Hari Oraon.

Case Investigation Handed Over to CBI by the High Court

The Jharkhand High Court handed over the investigation to the CBI in 2012 during the hearing of a public interest petition. Before this, in May last year, the CBI had filed a chargesheet against 37 individuals. This earlier chargesheet accused the then JPSC Chairman, Dr. Dilip Prasad, senior member Gopal Prasad Singh, members Radha Govind Nagesh, and Shanti Devi, as well as Controller of Examinations Alice Usha Rani and an officer of Additional Collector rank, among others.
