Dhanbad, Jan 20: The Anti-Corruption Wing of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) employee at the Koyla Bhawan headquarters for accepting a bribe to process a Provident Fund (PF) transfer.

According to CBI officials, the accused, identified as Pranay Sarkar, a clerk in the establishment department at Koyla Bhawan, had demanded ₹14,000 from an employee to facilitate the transfer of their PF amount.

The man however refused to pay the bribe and reported the matter to the CBI’s Dhanbad office. Following verification of the complaint, the CBI instructed the man to proceed with the payment as part of a sting operation.

Sarkar eventually agreed to accept the bribe in two installments of ₹7,000 each. As per the plan, the employee met Sarkar at Koyla Bhawan and handed over ₹7,000.

Sarkar was caught red-handed by the CBI team while accepting the money and was immediately taken into custody.

CBI officials confirmed that Sarkar is currently under interrogation and will be sent to custody. Further investigations are underway.
