SUBHASH MISHRA

Dhanbad, Jan 28: Giridih MP Chandra Prakash Choudhary of AJSU accused the ruling parties in Jharkhand of fostering an increase in crimes, coal theft, and incidents of violence. He said that the state’s crime rate had surged due to the government’s alliance with parties that had opposed the creation of Jharkhand.

Addressing AJSU’s central committee meeting at Bhatinda Fall of Puti, approximately 14 km from the district headquarters, Choudhary pointed out that both the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress had always opposed the formation of Jharkhand.

He emphasized that, despite their opposition, these parties are now part of the government, which had led to a rise in crimes, violence in the collieries, and iron thefts. “Even question papers are leaked before examinations,” he added.

“In fact, those who had opposed Jharkhand have now occupied coveted positions and are defaming the state through their misdeeds,” said Choudhary.

A New Definition of Ruling in Jharkhand: Sudesh Mahto

AJSU supremo Sudesh Mahto, speaking at the Central Committee meeting, stated that the definition of governance in Jharkhand had changed under the current government.

He criticized the state’s law enforcement for raiding the houses of innocent villagers at night without filing FIRs, while those facing multiple criminal charges roamed free under government protection.

“As per established rules, Gram Sabha, Circle Officer (CO), and Deputy Collector Land Reform (DCLR) are responsible for resolving land disputes and ensuring compensation for villagers. Police should only handle law and order issues. But under the new government, democratic institutions like Gram Sabha and Zila Parishad are overlooked, and the police directly intervene,” Mahto stated.

“Even an MLA gets hardly 1.30 hours in five years to speak in the assembly,” he added.

Police Raids and Misuse of Power

Sudesh Mahto also accused the police of conducting raids on villagers’ homes without FIRs or warrants, destroying their belongings in the name of search operations.

He alleged that these actions were aimed at sabotaging the villagers’ property and creating unrest in the region.
