Daltonganj Feb 4: A breast clinic for the Outpatient Department (OPD) will start functioning in the MMCH Daltonganj from this coming April.
Giving this information today on the occasion of the World Cancer Day the Medical Superintendent Dr Dharmendra Kumar said the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of Health Ajoy Kumar Singh on his January 9 visit to the MMCH had asked them to start OPD of the breast clinic and that the MMCH is determined to have it in April positively.
Dr Dharmendra Kumar urged his fleet of swasthya sahiyas to help in screenings of girls and women who have any issue with their breasts.
Palpation is the simplest and the easiest thing to do which a girl or a woman can do with the breast and if there is breast pain or lymph nodes no time should be wasted in taking consultations with the doctors, reminded the Medical Superintendent.
“It’s NCD (non-communicable disease) that is gripping the humans most. So it’s time to have a normal life and avoid such lifestyles which are harmful,” he added.

Raising Awareness and Early Detection
A well-known physician Dr R K Ranjan said occupational hazards like mining sector of coal and stone etc multiply the risk of cancer manifold. Early detection of the cancer brightens the hope of recovery most.
Dr Ranjan said cancer is the second big killer after cardiac arrest worldwide. He didn’t do any rhetoric but he did a straight talk about cancer.
Dr Qadir Perwez reminded that a mere removal of the uterus is not any surety to tide over cervical cancer which is quite rising in women. Dr Perwez asked for a Pap smear or cervical cytology which is mandated to detect cervical cancer.
Dr S K Ravi popularized the theme of the World Cancer Say for the year 2025-27 which is ‘United by Unique’. Dr Ravi said it lays emphasis on the personalized care of the cancer patients.

Focus on Children and Women’s Health
Dr Vinita Nancy Khalkho head of the pediatrics department said children too become victims of cancer. She said some 25 to 30 per cent of children suffer from blood cancer. A child who gets an infection frequently has to be well taken care of, Dr Vinita added.
On cervical cancer, Dr Dharmendra Kumar asked girls and women to be particular about their menstrual cycle as any aberration or irregularity of it can’t be ignored at all. Tell your doctors about the irregular bouts of bleeding. There is no room for any hesitation, said the Medical Superintendent.
