THE JHARKHAND STORY NETWORK

Daltonganj February 6: The Health Sub-Centre at Pindrahi under the administrative control of the nearest Sub-Divisional Hospital Chhaterpur is a picture of negligence, dirt, filth and all that is sick and decaying.

Poor Supervision and Neglect by Deputy Superintendent

The monitoring and supervision of this Health Sub-Centre at Pindrahi by the Deputy Superintendent of the Sub-Divisional Hospital Chhaterpur Dr Rajesh Agrawal is conspicuously missing as in the last one month it was not visited by Dr Agrawal at all, a fact conceded by the Civil Surgeon Dr Anil Kumar.

Sources reported that when Civil Surgeon Dr. Anil Kumar questioned Dr. Agrawal today about his failure to visit the Health Sub-Centre in the past month, Dr. Agrawal initially attempted to evade the inquiry.

However, when Dr. Kumar presented clear records showing that Dr. Agrawal had not made any visits to the Sub-Centre last month, as reflected in the register, Dr. Agrawal quickly made his way to the facility, rushing to address the issue after the Civil Surgeon’s reprimand.

Deplorable Conditions and Expired Medicines

This Health Sub-Centre is in terrible mess. Costly medicines were found expired. The room where the medicines were kept was dark, dingy and extremely dirty as if it were not swept by the broom stick for months together.

More than 100 precious tablets of Azithromycin 500 mg were found expired as its packet was not even opened. Medicines for hyper acidity control in good numbers here have 80 days left to expire. Other antibiotics were found expired here.

Under the order of the Civil Surgeon packets of the sanitary pads which were about to decay were distributed among the women present in the Health Sub-Centre at Pindrahi.

Issues with Staff Attendance and Accountability

Ayush Community Health Officer Shabana Perween was found absent who on the phone claimed to be on leave but her District Ayush Officer Dr B Kaarak could not vouch if she was on authorised leave.

Civil Surgeon Dr Anil Kumar said he has duly brought her matter of absence to her superior officer and further Deputy Superintendent Dr Rajesh Agrawal has been asked to seek her explanation for absence today February 6.

The Ayush health care is in shambles in Palamu as there is no accountability of the Ayush community health officers nor its district chief Dr Kaarak has ever found time to interact with the media persons.

The ANM A Toppo at the Pindrahi Health Sub-Centre just couldn’t explain her inefficiency and incompetency. This ANM just looked blank and staring.

A well-built two-storeyed building for this Health Sub-Centre is ready where if this Health Sub-Centre is shifted to, will be far more patient friendly. The new building has light, water and a look of Health Sub-Centre.
