THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

New Delhi, Feb 15: The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has directed Delhi’s Public Works Department (PWD) to conduct a thorough investigation into alleged irregularities in the expansion of the 6, Flagstaff Road bungalow, which was occupied by Arvind Kejriwal during his tenure as Delhi’s chief minister from 2015 until early October last year. The inquiry will also examine the expenditures incurred on the residence’s interiors.

BJP MLA from Rohini, Vijender Gupta, who lodged two complaints with the CVC, alleged that Kejriwal violated building norms by expanding the residence into an opulent mansion covering eight acres.

The BJP has labelled the bungalow as “Sheesh Mahal,” alleging corruption in its construction and furnishing. The CVC, acting on Gupta’s complaints, initially sought factual reports from the PWD before ordering the current detailed probe.

Vijender Gupta alleged that government properties, including bungalows at 8-A and 8-B, Flagstaff Road, and plots at 45 and 47 Rajpur Road—previously housing senior officials and judges—were demolished and merged into the expanded structure without adhering to layout plan approvals, ground coverage limits, or floor area ratio regulations.

Gupta in his second complaint accused Kejriwal’s government of spending taxpayers’ money on extravagant renovations and luxurious amenities for the residence.

As of now, there has been no response from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) or its convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, regarding the matter.
