Ranchi, Feb 18: Chief Minister Hemant Soren today inaugurated several student-oriented web portals and launched the Innovation Hub at the Ranchi Science Centre during a state-level workshop on the Jharkhand Research and Innovation Policy-2025.

The event, held at the Jharkhand Ministry auditorium, also featured presentations on various initiatives in higher and technical education.

Launch of Six Digital Portals for Higher Education

CM Soren unveiled six web portals developed by the Higher and Technical Education Department to strengthen digital governance and infrastructure. These include:

  • Salary Verification Portal: Simplifies salary verification for university and college staff, reducing errors and improving efficiency.
  • Learning Management Portal: Manages online teaching, training, and academic programs in higher education institutions.
  • Private University Management Portal: Streamlines the establishment and management of private universities in Jharkhand.
  • CM Fellowship Scheme Portal: Facilitates fellowship applications to promote higher education and research.
  • Apprenticeship Management Portal: Simplifies the selection and training of apprentices in state universities and colleges.
  • Grant Portal for Non-Aided Colleges: Speeds up the grant process for permanently affiliated non-aided colleges by reducing bureaucratic delays.

Inauguration of Innovation Hub and Science City Project

CM Soren also inaugurated the Innovation Hub at Ranchi Science Centre, which aims to foster creativity and problem-solving skills among students and researchers.

Additionally, a ₹270 crore project has been planned to upgrade the Regional Science Centre into Science City, spanning 25 acres in Ranchi. This initiative is expected to boost scientific tourism and provide educational entertainment.

Jharkhand Research and Innovation Policy 2025

The state government introduced the Jharkhand Student Research and Innovation Policy-2025 to promote a research-driven culture among students.

With a budget of ₹1,280 crore, the policy aligns with the National Education Policy 2020 and supports startup seed funding, research projects, and academic conferences. It also establishes Innovation Cells in universities and colleges, aiming to make Jharkhand a hub for research-based economic and technological development.

Presentation of Proposed New Building for Ranchi University

A state-of-the-art campus for Ranchi University is being constructed at Chedi in Ranchi district on 87 acres of land, with a total investment of ₹1,100 crore. The new campus will provide world-class educational facilities to 30,000 students in the state.

Commitment to Digital Education

Jharkhand Higher and Technical Education Minister Sudivya Kumar emphasized the government’s commitment to digitizing higher education. He stated that the new portals would eliminate bureaucratic delays and enhance transparency, ensuring applicants can track their submissions in real time. The minister assured continuous monitoring of the system to address any grievances promptly.

The event was attended by Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari, Additional Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, Principal Secretary Rahul Kumar Purwar, CEO of CSC e-Governance Services Sanjay Kumar Rakesh, and vice-chancellors from various state universities.

With these initiatives, the Jharkhand government aims to enhance digital governance in education, streamline administrative processes, and foster a strong research ecosystem in the state.
