Dhaka, Feb 24: A major attack has been reported at the Bangladesh Air Force base in Cox’s Bazar today, where unidentified assailants launched an assault. One person has been killed in the incident. Following the attack, the Bangladesh Air Force reportedly launched a counteroperation.
Local authorities have confirmed the attack, stating that one person was killed and several others were injured. Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin said an investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the attack, and appropriate action will be taken.

According to sources, the deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Shihab Kabir, who was shot during the clash. The incident occurred around noon. Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital Police Box in-charge Saiful Islam confirmed that local businessman Shihab Kabir was shot.

Bangladesh Army’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), reported that the attack was carried out by some miscreants from the nearby Samitipara area. Following the attack, the army took control of the situation and transported the injured to the hospital. Bangladeshi media stated that the Air Force is taking precautionary measures to manage the situation.
According to local media, the Bangladesh Army has cordoned off the incident site, and no one is allowed to approach the area. The situation remains tense across the region. Authorities have urged people to maintain peace. So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
