Ranchi, Feb 25: The Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA) has taken cognizance of the rape of five minor girls in the Rania police station area of Khunti. Immediate action was directed, and each victim was provided with interim financial assistance of Rs 10,000.

Following the directive by JHALSA Executive Chairman Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, Member Secretary Kumari Ranjana Asthana instructed the Khunti District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) to offer legal aid and other necessary support. A DLSA team was formed to visit the victims, assess their needs, and ensure they received proper assistance.

The incident allegedly took place when the girls were returning home after attending a wedding ceremony.

The DLSA team met with the victims and their parents, who expressed their willingness to seek legal assistance. They were also informed about government welfare schemes available to them.

The victims have been provided with free legal aid, support persons, and necessary medical assistance. Additionally, the process of compensating them under the Victim Compensation Scheme has been initiated.

As immediate relief, each victim has been granted Rs 10,000.
