Daltonganj, Feb 26: Efforts are on to replenish in-house pathology tests in the MMCH Daltonganj.
Medical Superintendent Dr Dharmendra Kumar told the Jharkhand Story correspondent today, “We conduct just 12 in-house pathology tests like sickle cell, anaemia, blood sugar, haemoglobin, pregnancy test, Australian antigen test (read hepatitis B virus), HCV (read hepatitis C virus) etc.”
These and other tests come free as there is no BPL or APL issue, added the Medical Superintendent.

However when pointed out by the Jharkhand Story correspondent that there is no facility for Urine culture to which Dr Dharmendra Kumar said, “True we need to do it.”
There is one other unit of pathology test on the PPP mode in the MMCH Daltonganj. This agency claims to offer 68 kinds of pathology tests including hormonal profile. Pathology tests done by this agency are chargeable except for the BPL.

Plans to Introduce FNAC and Pap Smear Tests
Dr Dharmendra Kumar further said, “We are too serious to start FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) and pap smear test.” About pap smear test Dr Dharmendra Kumar said it is to check the condition of any suspected cervical cancer.
Procurement of Auto Analysers in Progress
Sources said the MMCH has placed a requisition for two auto analysers. One for haematology and the other for biochemistry.
This correspondent spoke to the principal of the MMCH Dr P N Mahto to know as to when the auto analysers will be here in the MMCH to which Dr Mahto said, “Things are in the pipeline. There is going to be a huge procurement of equipments for the MMCH. We expect the consignment to be here in the first half of March.”
Dr Mahto making it clear said, “All the procurements are to be of high quality and standard. We are pretty cautious about it.”
